Hello there, my name is Nolan Formalarie and I moved from the chilly Northeast 12 years ago to be by the beach, sun and enjoy a relaxed life style. Growing up in Western MA was wonderful but as an avid outdoor person who needs the sun I decided to take a trip to Wilmington/Southport and immediately fell in love with the area.

I used to be an avid day hiker and mountain biker but because this area is flat I quickly adapted and now kayak, walk and run along the seashore. The kayaking in Brunswick County is amazing; you can experience all kinds of wildlife in the Lockwood Folly River, if you like sea kayaking the Marsh Savannahs that lead to the Atlantic might be for you.

Our beaches are calm, serene and full of white sand. Down in Brunswick County they all face south making them an excellent place to take a walk around Sunset. I make sure to get out there at least once a week to walk. It’s a stress release, as well as therapeutic.

As for being a real estate broker I genuinely love what I do. I don’t sell homes or land I simply provide the best customer service I can to my clients. I pride myself on the relationships I form before, during and after a transaction. My work ethic and dedication is unparalleled and if I can help you out in any way please let me know.

Treating customers like family is the goal & a way of life for Coastal Nest. The sister duo, Kate Lenna & Laura FitzHugh are dedicated to matching individuals & families with the home and neighborhood that best suit their needs.

Kate and Laura are originally from Northern Virginia. Laura moved to Southport in 2006 with her husband Mac, and their daughter Logan. Mac’s parents were retiring to St. James and a slower lifestyle sounded wonderful to the young family. Laura & Mac welcomed two more children since their move to Southport, daughter Addison and son Quinn. Bella is the newest addition to the family, a German Shepard that they adopted from the Brunswick County Animal Protective Services.

When Laura moved to NC, her plan was to convince her sisters and mom to move to the coastal carolinas. She was successful in relocating her mom and other sister. In 2013, Kate took the leap and moved to Southport from Southern California with her husband Mike, and two sons Luca and Leo. Daughter Luci joined the family in 2016.

Kate and Laura decided to join forces and establish Coastal Nest. They both enjoy helping their clients find their piece of paradise in coastal Carolina. Kate and Laura pride themselves in their passionate and heartfelt drive to serve their clients.

Both Kate and Laura share a love of cooking and opening their homes to friends and family. They have incorporated creativity, innovation and hospitality into their open houses and marketing. They share a love for animals and are offering a pet adoption for their clients, when they purchase a home. Buy a Home, Give a Home will help many Brunswick County cats and dogs find their forever homes.

I decided to go in to real estate because helping others has always been one of my greatest passions. Whether helping you find the home of your dreams or selling your current home, you can be confident that I will be there to take care of every aspect of the transaction. My attention to detail and organization skills allow for a smooth transaction. I treat my clients like family and keep in touch with them on a regular basis before, during, and after closing. I value the relationships I have built during my real estate career.

I’ve spent almost my whole life in the area and absolutely love it. I enjoy the beaches, the warm sunny weather, and the wonderful people who live here. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at church, going on mission trips to Nicaragua, reading, and vacationing with my family. My husband David and I have been married for over 20 years and we have one son, Aaron. We also have 3 rescue dogs which we love and spoil, Sophie, Rocky, and Buddy, the 140 lb. newest addition to the family.

I’ve been a real estate professional since 2010. I started as a Sales Agent in Loudonville, New York.  After many cold winters, my wife and I relocated to coastal North Carolina to enjoy the warm climate and beach areas, kayaking, swimming, gardening, eating seafood and southern coast leisure living.  Life is good!

I love the excitement of processing real estate transactions and helping people navigate the challenges of buying or selling a home.  And, having a background in Human Resources Management proved to be an invaluable resource in my work as a REALTOR/Broker.  I’ve learned it is extremely important to focus on communications and build good relationships.  Also, customer service, attention to detail, problem solving and strong negotiations are included in my priorities when working with you.

Essentially, whether you are buying or selling property my goal is to build the relationship to ensure a stress-free real estate transaction. Customer satisfaction is a key element of my service.  I want you to have the best experience possible during the transaction, including assistance with mortgage brokers, attorneys and home inspectors.  When selling your home, I will market your property to attract buyers and bring you the highest possible price.  If you are buying a home, I will help identify features that match your family needs, location and negotiate the best price.  I value your business and look forward to assisting you in accomplishing your real estate goals.

Rob Dooley has lived in Brunswick county for over 10 years after relocating from Northern Virginia.  He and his wife Christy have inspired virtually the whole family on both sides to settle in Brunswick County from Oak Island to St. James to Calabash.  He is well versed in new construction.  He is an avid golfer and fisherman, and often enjoys relaxing with a game of pool, a Netflix binge, or Sunday football.
John & Shannon Dooley moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Bolivia, NC when John’s brother Rob offered them a second job in real estate.  Their other trained profession is as professional Opera Singers (yes, really) and have performed everywhere from The Metropolitan Opera and Lincoln Center in New York City to The Cave Without a Name in Boerne, TX.  They find that real estate is just as dramatic as the theater world but with fewer unsavory endings.  They enjoy gardening, cooking, and being mom and dad to their daughter and Russian Blue cat.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read my bio.  My wife and I have been coming to Southport since 2004.  We just fell in love with the area and purchased in 2005.  We were lucky enough to have very successful careers in the Washington DC Metro area that made it possible for us to finally put roots down with our forever home in St. James.

My career started back when I was 15 working at an electrical contracting firm.  After graduation I started full time working as an electrical estimator.  After working for over ten years in estimating, I went into project management specializing in hospital construction.  After sixteen years of project managing I decided to make a career change and went into the field of lighting controls.  Oh, how technology changes.  My career was going great, so great that I won employee of the year after being at the company for only a year and a half.  And two weeks later decided to give my resignation as my wife had decided it was time to be in Southport, NC.  We decided that the move to a warmer climate, close proximity to the beaches, several golf courses to explore and southern hospitality was where we wanted to be.

As a realtor, my sole intention is to help each client make buying their forever home a realty.  I remember when I first purchased my vacation home very vividly.  It was scary and exciting all at the same time.  Just know that you can trust what I say and that I will do everything humanly possible to make sure that you have the best possible experience with your purchase or sale.  I feel that success is loving what you do, and loving how you do it.
